Huawei Matebook X Pro – Checking out Huawei’s new flagship laptop

The luxury laptop market has been diluted for quite some time now. With the M1 Macbook Pro and the DELL XPX 15 already saturating the market, the Matebook X is up for some tough competition. Looking back at the original Matebook X’s performance might give us some pointers. Even though it faced similar competition, the Matebook X blew everyone away with its features, display and flexibility. If anything, matching the original Matebook would be more than enough to impress us. However, no one can truly review a laptop without using it for a while and so we had to wait a while to do this review. We outfitted 5 of our colleagues with the Huawei Matebook X Pro for a few months and asked for their reviews afterwards. We will get in to those reviews further down this article. But first, let us take a look at the specifications of this luxury laptop. Our review models came with 11th Gen Intel Core i7- 1165G7 Processors, Intel Iris X Graphics and 16 GB LPDDR4x 4266 Mhz memory sticks.

So how did it turn out?

Alright, straight off the bat- the Matebook X pro 2021 did not impress as much as the Matebook X. This does not mean the laptop is bad by any means. The X Pro is a very good laptop at any scale and its own capacity. But, it does not blow away the competition as much. If you are considering the Matebook X Pro however, here are the features to watch out for-

Standout design:

The first major difference between the Matebook X and the X pPo is the slightly bigger build. However, this does not take away from the luxury of the product. The webcam itself is back in the bazel, which gives it a more ‘laptop-y’ look. This makes the webcam more noticeable and might we add, more stylish and easy to use.

The trackpad:

Hands down, this is the best trackpad our testers have ever used. The trackpad itself looks like an infinity pool with its sleek finish and end to end design. It offers free touch haptic feedback and unique but intuitive gesture controls. Everything from brightness to connectivity can be controlled via trackpad gestures, and we can’t get enough of it.

Display:

The screen itself has a 90 Hz refresh rate with a 3k resolution, which is to be expected from a flagship laptop. However, the color performance is absolutely brilliant and much better than its competitors.

Speakers:

It has 6 sound drivers which are neatly placed on either side of the keyboard. Our entire office’s first reaction to the speakers was just sheer surprise as the Matebook X Pro has by far the best speakers on any laptop we have tested so far.
